Lake LBJ Family Trip 2012

A few weeks ago, Amy mentioned her and Clifton wanted to take the boat and stay somewhere on the water.  She sent me many MANY different vacation rentals and we all ultimately decided to rent a house on Lake LBJ near Marble Falls.  We had such an awesome time and I'm so glad we decided to do it.  It also gave us a chance to see the other rentals around us owned by the same people if we decide to do it again or if we decide to have more people.

We drove down on Thursday afternoon and stayed until Sunday.  Sadly, none of us were ready to leave and decided that next year maybe we need to tack on one more day :)  We spent time in the pool, in the boat, and just lounging around the house.  We even got to see the first SEC game for the Aggies. I won't go into detail about that because it just makes me sad :(  I can't wait to do it again next year!

Kyleigh's First Dance Class

Last Wednesday I took Kyleigh to her first dance class at Suzanne's School of Dance.  I cannot express how excited I was to be able to do this with her.  I decided during the summer that I wanted to keep Kyleigh home with me one more year before putting her into a preschool program because I really haven't had a chance to be at home with just her.  I'm being selfish because she is my last baby and I'm just not quite ready to let go yet :)

Saying that she liked it is a huge understatement.  I have never seen her so excited to put her pink tights and her "sparkle" outfit on as she calls it.  She was also a huge fan of her ballet shoes.  I still have a difficult time getting her to take them off after we get home!  I really hope she continues to like her dance class because it's something I LOVED as a child.  I also have to say that I am a tad bit over the moon excited that she will have a recital in May.....is it strange to all ready be excited about that?  Anywho, I am looking forward to this new little adventure that I get to have with my girl each week!

Cooper's 1st Day of Preschool

We had a week full of firsts last week!  Kyleigh moved to her first big girl bed, Cooper went to Preschool, and Kyleigh started her first dance class.  I visited the School for Little People a few months ago and was really impressed with everything they had to offer.  I visited a 4 year old class and boy were they advanced!  I decided that Cooper would probably drown in a class like that so I decided to get him into the 3 year old class.  I felt much better after finding out that there were other boys in his class who had just turned 4 as well.

Cooper's teacher, Mrs. Merritt, came to visit us in August and made him feel very comfortable with what was to come when he started preschool in September.  We had our first day on September 4th and so far Cooper seems to really like it.  We have only had one meltdown in 2 weeks so for anyone that knows Cooper that is pretty good!  It is definitely an adjustment for all of us to get into this new routine of waking up early and getting on the road because sadly Daddy is the only morning person in this family!

I am really looking forward to seeing Cooper grow and mature throughout this year and I can't wait to see all the new things he learns.  I really think this will be a great assessment for me to know whether or not he will be ready for kindergarten next year.  The great thing is that if he's not quite ready he can continue to go to the same school for another year and could even continue on to go to kindergarten there as well.  I know that Cooper does not adjust well to change so this is a huge bonus for us!

Kyleigh's Big Girl Bed

I have been wanting to get Cooper a bunk bed for awhile now and since we decided to go ahead and buy it, we took his old mattress and set Kyleigh's big girl bed up in her room.  I tried to think back to how old Cooper was when we put him in a big bed because it was right when we moved back to College Station but I think he was around the same age.  It's hard for me to believe my last baby is now crossing such a milestone and I'll never go through this milestone again :(

She has now been in her big girl bed for a week and is doing awesome!  I don't think she even really notices a difference because to her it's just her bed where she sleeps with all of her millions of babies!  We still have to get the rails for the bed so we can put the headboard and footboard on but until then she is just enjoying her "big girl bed" as is!
