After Amy and Clifton left on Friday around lunchtime, we got ready for round 2! My mom and dad were only able to come in for the evening and part of the day Saturday because Dad had to teach Sunday school. They arrived here around 5 and because we had so much food leftover from the days before, we delve into them. I hate to say it but it probably tasted a little better leftover because all the flavors had time to set in!

We then opened gifts with Mom, Dad, and Matthew and had a great time just sitting by the fire and watching movies. I have really enjoyed our fireplace and it's so easy to just flip a switch! I enjoyed having a fire at the old house but I could never just build one by myself. Not to mention the fact that it never seemed to get very cold in South Texas. Things are definitely different here in College Station. We've all ready had 2 hard freezes! I didn't know if we were going to make it to church in time on Sunday because my windshield was frozen over. Even though Mom and Dad were only able to stay that one night we had a great time and can't wait to see them again.....this weekend! That will be the next post.......

Christmas 2010, Part 1 1/2

Since Amy and Clifton were able to stay another night, Clifton, Daniel, and Matthew (who also came in on Wednesday evening to enjoy a few extra days) put together Cooper's Christmas present. We broke down and decided it was time to get him a Power Wheels Ford F-150. Daniel has been talking about getting him one, I think since I was pregnant with him! I knew Cooper would love it and be excited but I'm pretty sure his Daddy was more excited than him.

It turned out to be pretty easy to put together and they had it done in no time. We wanted to wait to give it to him until Christmas Day after he had opened all his other presents because we knew once he saw it that nothing else would matter. We were right! He stayed outside in the truck for 2 hours +.......in freezing cold 30 degree weather! He didn't mind the cold but Pop and Daddy weren't too thrilled about it........

Christmas 2010, Part 1

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we had Christmas at our new house this year and everyone came to us. It turns out that now that Daniel and I live in College Station, we have more family on his side in this area than in Pleasanton. We were so thrilled to be hosting the celebration, but it was a LOT of work and I still didn't even get everything done that I wanted to. I bow to my in-laws, Jim and Tricia, because now I know how much work it is to prepare for the festivities!

Amy, Clifton, Layton, Jim, & Tricia all came in on Wednesday so we could hang out before the big night on Thursday. I was so glad that they were able to come early because it gave Cooper and Kyleigh a chance to play with their favorite cousin! It only took one hour before they got into mischief....Cooper came running into the living room where we all were and said, "Daddy come to the playroom" over and over and we heard Layton saying, "A Down" (his and Cooper's version of please help me get down). We weren't prepared for what we saw next.....Layton was in Kyleigh's swing! It was so hilarious and before helping him down we had to get a few pics of him just a swingin'....lol

On Thursday, Amanda and Jerrod came in around lunchtime to hang out for the day. Laura had to work so she and Carter came later. We had such a great day just hanging out around the house and Amy and I even got to sneak out and enjoy a pedicure. That evening, we all enjoyed steaks on the grill, mashed potatoes, beans, salad, and wonderful homemade rolls. We exchanged gifts and really had a great time. Jim and Tricia went to Houston that night to stay with Amanda and Jerrod and Carter and Laura headed back to Pearland. Amy and Clifton were able to stay another night so we made it a late one! I missed everyone the minute they all drove away and I can't wait for us all to get together again!

PS: I apologize in advance for all the pictures but it won't seem like many when you find out that I took over 300!

Amanda opening up her Kindle....she was excited!

Jerrod opening "the gift". This is an inside joke between the family....this was a Santa suit that Grandma Hindes received at her shower when she and Joe got married. It has since been passed around to ALMOST everyone.....I wonder who will be next? :)

"the gift" again

A close up....beautiful! (even if it wasn't the right one)

The Yellow Bubblesuit

There is a suit that Daniel, Amy, Carter, and Amanda all took pictures in when they were around 6 months old. We have since taken pictures of Cooper and Layton in it as well. We were afraid that Kyleigh would get too big for it so Tricia brought the suit when they came for Christmas and I took some pictures of Kyleigh. We decided to make it a little different than the boys so I added a bow to her head and she was picture perfect. Since she isn't able to sit up on her own yet I draped a pretty blanket of hers over her Bumbo chair and sat her in it. She was very cooperative and I think I got some really cute shots!
