Rockport with the Family!

Last week we headed to Rockport on Thursday for a long weekend with the family. Very rarely do we have a time when all 4 kids and parents can come together in one place so this was special! My in-laws planned this entire weekend a few months back because they have an RV parked there year round and we are so appreciative to them for everything! We got there early afternoon on Thursday and set up camp at the cottages. It was an interesting day because Cooper and Kyleigh are not used to going much (poor things their mother is kind of a homebody) and getting acclimated to a different place proved to be a challenge.

Friday was our beach day! Trying to get 3 kids ready for the beach and 8 adults took a little longer than expected. We finally ended up at the beach around lunchtime so we packed lunch to take with us. It worked out so well because Layton took a morning nap and Grandma Hill sat with him. When we were taking Cooper back for his afternoon nap Grandma Hill offered to sit with him as well while he was napping.....she was such a HUGE help and we really appreciate it! It allowed Dan and I some time to spend at the beach without kids.....a little less stressful I must say. Tricia had offered that morning to watch Kyleigh for us because the heat was going to be too much for her.....thanks to you too Nana!!

Saturday was a much more low key day for some of us....Amy, Clifton, Carter, and Laura went fishing with some of Clifton's family while Amanda, Jerrod, Daniel, and I and the kids stayed back. We had a great day just hanging out and doing a little shopping. On Sunday morning we got up pretty early and took Cooper and Layton to the park across the street from the RV resort. They have great park swings and the boys didn't want to leave them! We also took them to the pond at the back of the park where there are turtles as far as you can see.....I think Layton was more interested in jumping in to swim and Cooper was just melting down from the heat. It was miserably hot that day and the humidity wasn't doing any favors either. We headed home around lunchtime on Sunday and we were sad to leave but glad to get home! It was such an awesome trip and we even talked about how we need to make it a tradition to get together one long weekend every summer.....I hope we hold ourselves to that!

I have to apologize to my sweet Kyleigh for not getting any pictures of you! I'm glad that Aunt Amy took some so there is actual documentation that you were there!
