A Week with MiMi and Pop

Nana and Papa were going to keep the kids while we were gone on vacation, but Papa came down with a horrible stomach bug and so did Amy and then Clifton.  Since they were all in quarantine, I called MiMi and Pop to see if they could help us out in a pinch.  They came through as always and kept the kids so we could go on vacation.  Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

The kids had such a great time playing outside with the sprinkler at MawMaw B and Papa's house, swimming with cousins, keeping MiMi and Pop busy busy busy, and having fun with Uncle Matt.  My mom gave me her camera card to copy to my computer so I was so glad to be able to enjoy their adventures through the pictures.  I know they look forward to the next visit with everyone and I really hope they can have a fun visit with Nana and Papa later this summer!

Kyleigh's First Haircut

While the kids were with my parents last week, Kyleigh got her first haircut, with my permission.  She has had some scruffy crazy hair for awhile now and I just didn't know what to do with it.  I decided that my mom could take her while we were gone to Traci who did my hair growing up.  She did great and her hair looks super cute just cleaned up in the back!  I even got her baby hair that was cut off in an envelope.  I've never understood the reason why people always keep it but I have Cooper's too.  It was so much harder for me to cut her hair for the first time than for him because he was starting to get a mullet...lol.

Vacation 2012 - El Dorado Royale

Daniel and I try to go on one vacation a year together without the kids.  It gives us a chance to relax and spend time together as a couple without the interruption and chaos of children.  We missed them SO much but we had a great time!  We have always gone on cruises and this time we opted to do something different and stay at an all inclusive resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico.  It's about 30 miles from the airport in Cancun.  Carter and Laura went there on their honeymoon and Amanda and Jerrod have also vacationed there and had so many great things to say about it so we couldn't pass it up!

We arrived on Monday afternoon after a long day of travel from San Antonio to Houston and then Houston to Cancun.  The bad part of the travel was the layover in Houston.  We had an almost 4 hour layover going there and what was supposed to be a 5 hour layover on the way back but turned into more of a 6 hour layover.  Once we got there it was sprinkling a bit and by the time dinner rolled around it was a monsoon.  Little did we know, there was a large umbrella in our closet we never saw and we were the idiots running in the rain to dinner.  It was hilarious to show up to dinner in a nice restaurant completely soaked to the bone.  We enjoyed dinner nonetheless and ended up going back to the room and falling asleep before 9:00!  We are so old.....lol.

The next morning we got up to a beautiful view of sunshine!  We hurriedly got up and threw our suits on and soaked up the sun all day.  We were so blessed that this was our weather the rest of our stay there in Mexico.  We went swimming with the dolphins on our third day there.  It was my second time and Daniel's first and he really enjoyed it.  We were able to do so much more with them this time than I had previously experienced in Cozumel.  We hung out by the pool and beach all day again on Thursday and enjoyed our last day in paradise.

Once we got home Friday night, my parents brought the kids home to College Station and they were both so exhausted they could have cared less about seeing us then but Saturday morning they got a little more excited that we were home.  I loved so much that when I went in to get Kyleigh she hugged me and smiled.  Cooper told Daniel, "I missed you Daddy".  It melted both of our hearts to get such a warm response after being gone a week.  We really missed them so much but we know how important it is to spend time together as husband and wife and to enjoy that relaxing time away.  Can't wait to do it again next year!!
